If I am to be perfectly honest with myself and with you (and why have it any other way), I have to admit that I know in my heart I would have been “pro ana” if we had Facebook, MySpace and the Internet in general in the 1980s.
I so easily and quickly would have glommed […]

I love the comments generated at Breaking the Mirror, so I’m going to start highlighting my favorite one each week.
The following comment comes from “RaisinGirl” in response to this post on pro-ana and pro-mia bracelets.
What I enjoy most about what RaisinGirl wrote is how thoughtfully she analyzed the topic. She definitely hit some excellent points […]

Breaking the Mirror is a pro-recovery blog. As such, I feel it fills the need to bring support, awareness and discussion among persons with and without eating disorders.
But there are many other blogs and forums that discuss anorexia, bulimia and ED-NOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified). Those I’d like to discuss today designate themselves as […]

Unfortunately, I’m a lousy traveler and usually wind up […]

I’d like to start a series of posts that profile actual stories of women and men with EDs who have recovered or are in recovery. (No pro-anas or pro-mias, please.)
All names can be kept anonymous; I just want to start talking about how each of us has come to grips with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating […]

I came across this article, “Dangerous Territory“, from The National, an Arab Emirates newspaper with an online presence. In it, the author, Caroline King, talks about her daughter’s struggle with an eating disorder.
Not only do I think the article is poignant and candid, but I also believe it shares some insights that people need to realize, […]
