I so easily and quickly would have glommed […]

This week’s favorite comment: Pro-ana, analyzed

I love the comments generated at Breaking the Mirror, so I’m going to start highlighting my favorite one each week.
The following comment comes from “RaisinGirl” in response to this post on pro-ana and pro-mia bracelets.
What I enjoy most about what RaisinGirl wrote is how thoughtfully she analyzed the topic. She definitely hit some excellent points […]

How low can you go?

I’m horrified when I think about how “low” I’ve stooped to cover my eating disorder. Even though it’s been somewhat “dormant” for many years, I’ve still used it as an excuse to do some pretty crazy things in the past… things I now deeply regret.
How “low” have I gone?  Consider these facts:
1. I’ve avoided friends […]

Pro-ana and pro-mia: good, bad or neither?

Breaking the Mirror is a pro-recovery blog. As such, I feel it fills the need to bring support, awareness and discussion among persons with and without eating disorders.
But there are many other blogs and forums that discuss anorexia, bulimia and ED-NOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified). Those I’d like to discuss today designate themselves as […]

A poll about… well… puking

Just a quick FYI… I’ve set up a new poll along the sidebar.  The subject is about making yourself throw up, as I’m trying to see how many readers a) have made themselves vomit; and b) if so, how often they do it.
I encourage you to submit your answer.  And if you’d like to see the […]

Definitely not a one-hit wonder post!

I’m amazed… almost every month this little piece about anorexia and Renaissance artists and their muses rises to the top as the most viewed Breaking the Mirror post.  I’m baffled, but glad to hear people like it!
