Would a nudist lifestyle cure an eating disorder?

My husband and I were once friends with a card-carrying (yes, he had a card) nudist. He showed us pics from a nudist magazine, and I was shocked to discover that many people who run around naked are… well… imperfect.
Their body flaws are just out there for all to see.  (As are other things - […]

Ya gotta laugh…

I spend a little time each day deleting the spam “comments” I receive.  Usually, they’re filled with keyword gobblygoo; however, today I had one that just said something about “nude white trash”.
I laughed out loud.
Thanks, spammers!  At least you’re all good for a giggle now and then.

Cheez, Barbies and Skinny Tomatoes…?

I love to check the Breaking the Mirror blog stats to see how people found their way to this eating disorder recovery community.  But I think that some guests must have been disappointed because what they wanted isn’t here.
Check out some of the latest kooky keyword phrases that led visitors to Breaking the Mirror:

A bit of food poisoning… and a reminder of Ana’s strength

So against my better judgment I ate at a chain buffet “restaurant” (aka, HELL HOLE) today.  My son really wanted to go, and it’s his birthday in a few days, so what could I say?  I tried to convince him it would be a gross spot to dine, but he had his heart set on […]

Confessions of an eating disordered restaurant patron

Dear Female Server:
You probably don’t know that I have poor body image.  And you probably don’t care.
But I have a confession to make.
If I feel you’re much thinner than I am, I’ll never order dessert, thinking you’re laughing at me behind my back.
Yes, it’s a sickness.  Sorry about that.
(But I’ll still tip 20% because I […]

Confessions of an eating disordered houseguest

I have a confession to make.
When I come to your house and you have a scale in your bathroom, I weigh myself.
Then, I move the scale slightly and weigh myself again to see if the numbers change based on the slant of your floor.
If the scale registers a “too high” number, I don’t eat as […]

Ana TV (aka, Ana Humor)

Just getting a little bit punchy today and thought I’d come up with shows that would be on The Ana Channel (if there were one, which there thankfully isn’t):
- “What Not to Eat”
- “America’s Next Top Anorexic”
- “Pimp My Bonez”
- “The Ana and Mia Show”
- “Look Ma, No Calories!”
- “I Dream of Skinny”
- “Love, Ana […]

Who cries for the least popular post?

I have a habit of anthropomorphizing things, including Breaking the Mirror posts.
So I’m encouraging everyone to read this lonely little post that’s officially the least popular for the month of July.
*insert a long “awwwww”, then promptly roll eyes*

The most amazing blog about body image… ever.

Okay.  My wonderful friend Susan turned me on to the wickedly witty blog Shapely Prose.
I’m never going back.
As the McDonald’s slogan goes, “I’m lovin’ it!”  Hope you do, too!
