Food Fetish

by angelique on March 28th, 2008

I recently read a blog post where the author lamented he had forgotten to eat.

Forgotten

Really?

Honestly, even when I wasn’t eating (as in anorexic or, at other times, EDNOS), I never forgot about food.  I might have been restricting, but the thought of food never left my mind.

Incidentally, I just ate something right before I typed this post.  And although I’m sated, I’m still thinking about food and when I’ll be able to eat again.  I could no more forget to eat than forget to breathe.  So that whole phenomenon is fascinating to me.

Have you ever sincerely forgotten to eat?  What does it feel like?

I have trouble picturing myself looking at the clock and thinking, “Wow!  It’s midnight and I never touched any food!” unless I was in a state of shock or very, very ill.

Honestly, I have never “forgotten” to eat. I might not have gotten around to it as quickly as I would have liked, but that makes it all the more cognizant in my mind, not forgotten.

I have, however, forgotten to go the bathroom. As in, started to head to the loo, got distracted, and then hours later, when I finally get there and my pee is like a tsunami, been like, oh yeah, I meant to do this hours ago.

    TMI? Sorry.
